Basic Motorcycle Maintenance
I am no motorcycle mechanic, actually not a mechanic at all. I did for many years work in the trade.
What I am going to explain is not rocket science but basic common sense for your safety and motorcycles survival.
Service your bike at the very least when the manufacturer recommends. Do not use products because they are a "good" price. Buy quality products once. They will cost you less in the long run.
What I will tell you from personal experience is do not wait until the last minute to service your machine.
I have a good instinct for how much more life my tire has or can I stretch the oil change a little. I can usually stretch the oil change. I use synthetic oil and my manufactures interval recommendation is 5000 miles. I usually change around 3000. Arizona is considered a harsh environment and I ride on the aggressive side.

What I will say is when you tires need to be replaced, don’t go that one more ride. You might not make it back. I was very lucky just recently. I pushed it and well let’s just say I am thankful that Metzler makes a very strong tire. Went to Chopper Kings to have my rear tire replaced, there was more cord showing then rubber. This is something that will not only fail the motorcycle but you. It was dumb and dangerous. Don’t wait to change things like tires, brakes and any other safety equipment.
There are lots of bike shops around Find one close to you that you are comfortable with. I know I have used Carl @ Sinner-Cycles. The man knows his Harleys. Support your local bike shops. Mail order might be cheaper for some things, but if you bring your stuff to a local shop, you will pay extra not to mention you paid for shipping. Buy quality, buy local and be safe.
