Product Review - Blu-Goo

Product Review: Blu-Goo

Price: $5.99 - $19.99, depends on if you get a deal at a show, or shop online.

If you have been to any motorcycle show or rally, chances are you have had your riding glasses or visor cleaned by these guys. At the very least they tried to entice you to look at their product. Well I decided to give it a try, and see how it worked on all the surfaces they listed.

Blu Goo claims to be anti-static, anti-fog, and usable on everything from reading glasses to your LCD/Plasma TV screen, and even the bathroom mirror. They offer three different variations of the Blu Goo, paste, drops, and a spray.

Their product is 100% water based with no other harsh or harmful chemicals, also claiming there is no wax to leave a film behind.

I have used the spray on almost everything. I have used it on my cell phone, digital camera, camcorder,  laptop screen, computer monitor, sun glasses, riding glasses, goggles, and the visors on my 3/4 and full face helmets. I have to admit - The spray is very versatile and awesome! It takes finger prints, and bugs off like a charm. the only thing lacking is the price point of $5.99 for a 1oz bottle or $6.99 for a 2oz. They do however offer a 16oz refill container for $19.99

The drops I have used on all of my cameras, from my digital cameras lens, cell phone camera lens, and camcorders lenses. The drops is the same stuff as in the spray bottle, just in a small dropper bottle. Its small enough to fit in my gear bag, so if I need to clean my lenses I can grab a q-tip and the drops and get them clean.

The paste is usually thrown in the "deal" when you see them at the shows... and heres why. Its not that great. It seems to dry up fairly quickly once you take the seal off the bottle, which looks like a carmex lip balm container. The paste feels "waxy" when you use it, although they say it will fill in scratches in CD's and DVD's so I would have to assume thats more of what it would be used for. The spray usually takes care of the glasses and the drops do come in handy. I however would pass on the "goo" at the shows and try to get them to throw in another bottle of the spray.

I payed somewhere around $10 bucks for the "package deal" While I like the spray, you might be able to find the same or similar product in any "lens cleaner" for alot less at the local eye wear shop, or corner drug store.
